Frequently Asked Questions

For box buyers

Who typically buys boxes from American Box?

We continually sell popular and hard-to-find box sizes at great prices to distribution centers, manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers, shipping and logistics companies, and more.

Why would I purchase used boxes?

Used boxes sold by American Box & Recycling are carefully inspected and structurally-sound boxes that companies have unpacked and would otherwise dispose of, haven’t used, or over-ordered. Our price per box is 30-50% less expensive than new boxes, with the equivalent quality of a new box. We also sell new boxes. Check out our box categories and other products.

Do you sell boxes for moving and self-storage?

Yes. Moving Boxes & Kits are available to consumers and businesses.

What box strength standard do you follow?

There are two test measures used across the corrugated industry to determine strength. The Bursting (Mullen) Test is related to the rough handling durability of corrugated material. The Edge Crush Test (ECT) is a newer standard that has achieved widespread acceptance as a true performance test that is directly related to the stacking strength of a carton. American Box works with both strength measures and can help you determine your box strength needs and comparative measures. See our Corrugated Box Strength Guidelines.

Why are your prices so low?

American Box & Recycling Company is not a manufacturer; we’re a distributor who provides a second life for once-used cardboard boxes and other materials that companies haven’t used, over-ordered, or consider flawed by very high standards. We carefully inspect and stock structurally-sound items and offer them at a fraction of the cost of newly manufactured products.

For box sellers

Who typically sells boxes to American Box?

We pay to haul and recycle corrugated boxes (and plastic too) to support a company’s environmental sustainability initiatives. American Box has developed strong partnerships with many of the largest manufacturers and distributors across food, beverage, pharmaceutical, home goods, and retail brands—providing a second life for once-used cardboard boxes and to save them money on dumpsters, labor, and hauling. How does your waste management program work?

Our sellers (aka suppliers) achieve Zero-Waste Sustainability and get paid. We audit, track and pay them to haul their materials. Environmental sustainability is supported by monthly reports. American Box & Recycling is a one-stop-shop for environmental, health & safety (EH&S) managers, plant managers, facility managers, and others responsible for their company’s sustainability initiatives.
